MEDICAL SCRIBING
A Medical Scribe is someone who records and documents the real time conversations between a healthcare professional or a doctor and patient. By appointing a scribe, it enables a doctor to focus on the patient's more that clerical tasks.
The main responsibilities of a medical scribe are to follow a doctor through his or her workday and record patient encounters using the electronic health record (EHR) and pre-existing templates in a medical office. Depending on the scribe's departmental norms, duties may change. Medical scribes organize and manage medical records in the EHR system, create referral letters for doctors, schedule visits, and monitor medical records.
Responsibilities and duties of a medical scribe includes :
- Make notes about patient appointments.
- Handle at least two patients each hour on average, and at least four patients per hour at peak hours.
- Facilitate diagnostic procedures and specialist referrals
- Assist the doctor with basic patient care
- Keep the workplace neat and professional Help with the training of newly recruited medical scribes
