MEDICAL SCRIBING
A medical scribe is a medical professional who works alongside physicians to document patient information during medical visits. This documentation is used to assist with diagnosis, treatment, and billing. Scribes are responsible for accurately entering patient information into electronic medical records (EMRs), transcribing physician notes, and maintaining a secure and compliant medical record on behalf of the patient.
Scribes are also responsible for gathering medical histories, documenting medical procedures, and generating reports. They may assist with the ordering and reviewing of lab tests, imaging studies, and other tests. Some scribes may also be asked to provide patient education or help physicians answer patient questions. Scribes may also be responsible for preparing patient discharge instructions, scheduling follow-up appointments, and other administrative duties.
