MEDICAL SCRIBING
A Medical Scribe effectively serves as the doctor's personal assistant, completing paperwork in the EHR, compiling data for the patient's visit, and collaborating with the doctor to provide the most effective patient care possible.
Responsibilities of a Medical Scribe :
- Prepares and puts together charts and documents for medical records for a doctor .
- During a patient visit, enters the patient's room alongside the doctor to record and transcribe medical record documents using an application for an electronic medical record.
- Ensures the accuracy of medical records through self-attestation and documentation.
- Updates the patient's medical history, physical examination results, and other relevant health data
- Prepares and transmits all documentation to doctor for review and approval using facility-specific protocols and meticulous data input verification.
- Observes how long it takes for screening and basic lab findings to be completed.
- Obeys hospital and medical center regulations, such as those set down by the Joint Commission and the HIPAA Act.
- Various clerical activities and assignments as assigned to enhance clinic workflow and physician productivity.
